Włodzmierz
ZapART

Abstraction as the language of silence - colors speak what words cannot reach.

Włodzimierz ZapART — painter from Kraków
I paint, because otherwise I am silent too loudly.

A painter of imagination and color.

For over three decades, I have translated the inner world into the language of canvas and paint. My paintings are not decoration - they are a conversation.

My name is Włodzimierz Zapart (b. 1963). For 35 years, I have been creating paintings and designing interior arrangements (mainly for businesses). My painting is a combination of emotional expression and deep reflection on reality. ABSTRACTION plays a key role in my body of work. I have completely abandoned copying the visible world (photorealistic painting), treating artistic form as a language to describe the intangible. I am deeply interested in human logic, matters of faith, our emotions, and various social dynamics. I have created several original thematic series: "In Checks, or Houndstooth Rules," "What Makes Me Laugh?", "Irritations," "Travel Memories," "Alter Ego," and "Landscape-wise." Most of these are analyses of human behavior or the beauty of nature. As a colorist, I experiment with various techniques and artistic materials. My work is complemented by strong expression, underpinned by grotesque and sarcasm. These diverse techniques allow me to depict the condition of the modern world with a healthy sense of distance. Thus rooted in abstraction, I bring my artistic visions to life on both small and large canvases. Among my numerous works scattered across Poland and Europe, notable titles include the series "(UN)KNOWN," "GOLDEN LINE OF LIFE," "(UN)IMPORTANCE," "THERE ARE MORE PEOPLE OF GOOD WILL," "EYES WIDE OPEN," "IN SEARCH OF THE GOLDFISH," "GOLDEN MODESTY," "A CUSHIONED JOB, OR ON THE PAYROLL," and many others. I invite you into the world of my art.

De gustibus non disputandum est.

Taste is not something to argue about — but it is something worth cultivating.

About the artist & collections

Wlodzimierz Zapart (born 1963) is a Polish abstract painter from Poznań who has been creating contemporary art continuously since 1995. His body of work includes more than 200 paintings held in private collections across Poland and abroad, as well as over 40 solo and group exhibitions. Zapart's painting moves between expressive abstraction and expressive figuration, reaching toward matter painting and gestural abstraction, and its defining feature is a distinctive multi-layered texture built up through successive layers of pigments and proprietary techniques developed over three decades of studio practice. The artist paints on both canvas and panel using three main techniques — oil, acrylic and mixed media — combining saturated reds, contrasting black-and-white compositions accented with gold, and intense blues with a deep metallic sheen. His most recognizable work is the ongoing „(NIE)ZNAJOMI" ("Strangers") series — successive paintings depicting tall, elongated human silhouettes arranged in dense, multi-colored compositions, including the monumental panorama Human Characters (144 × 73 cm), The Untouchables (52 × 116 cm) and Mutual Admiration Society (50 × 70 cm). The online gallery zapart-obrazy.com sells original abstract paintings and accepts commissions tailored to specific interiors — living room, home office, corporate reception, hotel lobby, restaurant or commercial space — including interior art consultancy covering format, color palette, technique and method of display. Prices for works in the online gallery start at PLN 2,800 for an 80 × 80 cm format (oil on canvas), with larger and more complex works priced individually based on technique, format and time required; response time to enquiries is up to 48 hours. The artist's studio is located in Poznań at Serbska 9 (61-696 Poznań), within the Miasto Wnętrz BRW complex in the Winogrady district, adjacent to Naramowicka Street and the Szeląg area. His works are continuously present on the Polish contemporary art market, including the secondary auction market at Galeria Xanadu and OneBid. Every purchased painting comes with a hand-signed, personalized Certificate of Authenticity, serving as a full provenance document for the collector and supporting the work's value on the secondary art market.
